An interesting video was recorded by a ranger inspecting a national park, showing 7 lions surrounding and attacking a porcupine with sharp spines all over its body.

Specifically, 7 hungry male lions saw the porcupine in the pond while looking for food. They surrounded the large rodent in the middle but were shocked when they tried to kill their prey in the blink of an eye.

The adult porcupine has been the target of lion attacks for many years. With its back covered with sharp spines, the porcupine knows how to defend itself.

It erects its spines, makes a loud rubbing sound, grinds its teeth and crawls sideways. It also swings its 25cm long tail full of sharp spines towards its enemy, ready to injure or even kill the lion.

For the young lions, this is probably the first time they have faced a porcupine at close range.

The lions occasionally swung their claws but quickly retracted them when the soft pads under their feet touched the sharp spikes of the group.

After about two minutes, the lions realized that they should not risk being pricked by the spikes. Finally, they all retreated and went elsewhere to hunt.
