Elephants are notoriously difficult for lions to kill, often requiring lions to be part of herds that specialize in hunting them; otherwise, they tend to avoid elephants and opt for smaller, less dangerous prey.

Recently, a video shared on social media captured the hearts of many viewers. In the video, two lions targeted a baby elephant as their prey.

They managed to knock the elephant onto its back and repeatedly bit its neck and legs with their powerful, sharp teeth.

Despite its injuries and evident pain, the baby elephant desperately struggled, trying to escape from its attackers, but it couldn’t match the strength of the jungle’s apex predators.

Just when it seemed death was imminent, the elephant’s family arrived. Led by a matriarch, the herd charged towards the lions attacking their kin.

The sheer size and number of the approaching elephants were enough to scare the lions away, saving the baby elephant.
